District of Var, France vintage enameled crest pin, heraldic emblem
AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
This vintage lapel pin features the official coat of arms of the District of Var, France. It has the classic shape of a heraldic escutcheon, surmounted by a stylized mural crown, often used in the symbolism of French local authorities. The front of the pin has an enamelled blue and cream background, with gold details that add depth and a brilliant finish to the whole.
In the center of the escutcheon, a golden fleur-de-lis is visible, surmounted by a red label with three points, all encircled by a golden border. The inscription "DISTRICT DU VAR" is clearly visible in gold letters, distributed on either side of the coat of arms. The deep blue enamel elegantly contrasts with the light border and gold elements, giving this pin an institutional and refined look.
The stylized mural crown, placed at the top of the escutcheon, recalls the traditional coats of arms of French cities. The gilding of the decorative elements adds a touch of elegance and brilliance, typical of official insignia from the 1980s-1990s. The enamelled aspect of the pin gives it a smooth and slightly domed surface, with luminous reflections depending on the angle of the light.
The outlines are sharp, the finish appears neat, and no major defects are visible on the front. The coat of arms is well-centered, and the colors remain vibrant. The object is presented in close-up on an antique stand with a gilded decor, highlighting the contrast between the pin and the background.
This type of emblazoned pin was often used as a representative insignia during official events, sports competitions, or departmental assemblies. It is part of the tradition of promotional and ceremonial items distributed by French institutions at the end of the 20th century.
