Vintage enamelled badge pin Saint Quay Portrieux maritime Brittany
AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
Old pin representing the coat of arms of the commune of Saint-Quay-Portrieux, visible in frontal view. The pin has a heraldic shape with a top resembling a crenellated crown, typical of French municipal coats of arms. The central part displays a shiny golden background, adorned with a stylized ship motif in relief, placed on green enameled waves, symbolizing the town's maritime identity.
The upper part of the coat of arms is decorated with a dark blue field, sown with golden motifs evoking ermines, and centered by a white or silver symbol whose shape is not clearly identifiable. On each side of the coat of arms, a stylized white and black wing, edged in gold, reinforces the visual balance and recalls a Breton aesthetic. At the bottom of the coat of arms, a bright red banner, also enameled, bears the inscription in golden letters: "SAINT QUAY PORTRIEUX".
The main colors are shiny gold, dark blue, red, green, and white, with an enameled finish that gives brilliance to the whole and accentuates the decorative aspect. The quality of detail, the sharpness of the inscriptions, and the brilliance of the enamels attest to careful work, typical of commemorative or tourist pins from the 1980s-1990s.
The visible surface shows no apparent cracks or missing enamel. Some micro-scratches or handling marks may be observed on the gold finish, without altering readability or general appearance. The reverse side is not visible in the photo and will therefore not be described.
This pin combines several elements synonymous with Brittany: the representation of the sea, ermines, and the shape of the coat of arms. Its style and graphics are similar to tourist souvenirs and promotional items distributed in the second half of the 20th century.
