Pin Open Gaz de France Paris vintage retro tennis enameled old badge
AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
Old pin representing the "Open Gaz de France" event, clearly designed to celebrate a tennis tournament in Paris. The visible side of the pin features a shiny enamelled finish with raised gold details. The composition is structured around a large stylized yellow ball, partially covered with a motif reminiscent of a net or a white racquet skirt with gold trim, topped with the cursive inscription "Open Gaz de France" in gold letters. At the bottom, the word "PARIS" also appears in raised gold, highlighting the Parisian event nature of this badge.
A small blue flag, placed to the right of the ball, bears the inscription "Gaz de France" on two white lines, accompanied by the brand's logo (a stylized yellow flame). The whole offers a decidedly retro aesthetic, typical of promotional items from the 1980s-1990s, with a marked use of coloured enamel and shiny metallic finishes.
The pin features a palette of bright and contrasting colours: bright yellow for the tennis ball, white and gold for the decorative elements, intense blue for the side flag. The contours and inscriptions are clean, with no visible printing defects on the presented side. The surface of the pin appears smooth, without major scratches, chips or traces of oxidation on the visible part.
The dynamic and festive design is characteristic of commemorative badges distributed at major sporting events, particularly in tennis, where institutional sponsors like Gaz de France were frequently highlighted on these items in the 80s/90s. The general appearance, typography and graphic style evoke the golden age of advertising pins in France.
This advertising badge is placed on a wooden piece of furniture, in a decorative display situation, which highlights its reliefs and metallic reflections. No major defects or pronounced wear are visible on the front side.
Condition
Used item, sold as is. The visible side is in very good apparent condition, without notable wear, chips or visible stains.
