Description

This document, visible in the photograph, is an old public works plan, typical of technical archives from the early to mid-20th century. Presented flat on a wooden desk, the plan is printed on paper with an aged, slightly yellowed appearance, characteristic of archival documents from this period. The surface shows detailed technical tracing in black and red ink, with handwritten annotations and graphic elements specific to hydraulic and port engineering plans.

On the upper part of the plan, the title "Chemin de Grande Communication N°50 dir du Littoral" is clearly visible, as well as a cadastral zone mentioning "Port de la Fontaine des Tuiles." Several lines, hatchings, and dotted patterns represent infrastructure, probably dikes or quays, with annotated areas for hydraulic developments. The scale is specified at the bottom left: "Échelle de 0,002 p.m.", along with the mention "T. 3000, 1932", indicating an origin around the 1930s, consistent with the period suggested by the keywords.

Administrative stamps are visible, including a partially legible stamp at the top left, reinforcing the authenticity and official use of the document. The technical inscriptions are complemented by handwritten annotations in red ink, probably additions or corrections made after the initial printing. The paper shows some prominent folds, a small tear on the lower right edge, and a consistent patina due to age, with no major visible stains on the front.

The typical layout, ink colors, technical typography, and organization of the plan place this document within the tradition of hydraulic and port engineering plans from the south of France, particularly around Marseille, as suggested by the mention of the port and locations.

Condition

This vintage plan is used and sold as is. It shows visible signs of use and handling on the displayed side: prominent folds, a small tear on the lower right edge, and overall patina. The printing and annotations remain clearly legible.

Did you know? Public works plans produced in France in the 1930s were often made on specific papers, suitable for technical ink and administrative stamps. They served as reference archives for the construction of major infrastructure, and every modification was indicated by handwritten annotations, often in color to distinguish additions from initial tracings.
