Old wooden aircraft plan STERN PYGMÉE Babi's – vintage model aircraft glider plan
AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Detailed description
Old model aircraft plan, displayed unfolded on an old wooden desk, in a retro workshop or library setting. The plan is printed in black on ivory paper with a slightly yellowed appearance, typical of technical documents from the first half of the 20th century. The sheet bears the title "Trois planeurs de M. Ch. Babi's" (Three gliders by Mr. Ch. Babi's) and details the models "STERNE", "PYGMÉE" and "COURLIS", with numerous dimensioned diagrams, handwritten annotations, and precise legends. In the upper left is the mention "BOUDE-GRÉ", and each aircraft part is named (wings, fuselage, empennage, etc.).
The lines of the plan are clear, with a neat layout: each view (top, profile, sections) is well separated, allowing easy reading by an experienced modeler. The technical inscriptions are legible, such as "rear fuselage width", "wing cutout" or "horizontal empennage". This vintage aircraft plan is intended for the faithful reproduction of wooden scale models, in accordance with the tradition of free flight or hand-launched gliders.
The scene also includes, in the foreground, four small antique instruments: two pocket compasses (one with a gilded lid), a magnifying glass with a handle, and a compass, enhancing the atmosphere of an old-fashioned technical workshop. The patinated wooden furniture, as well as the bookcase filled with old books in the background, emphasize the authentic and historical character of the whole.
The plan's paper has a slightly wavy appearance, with no visible tears on the shown side. The corners are marked, but the print remains perfectly legible. No major folds or significant stains are visible on the illustrated area.
This original technical plan is an ideal piece for the reconstruction of wooden model aircraft, vintage engineer's office decoration, or historical documentation on aeronautical modeling.

Did you know? The aircraft plans by Ch. Babi's, including "PYGMÉE" and "STERNE", marked the history of French model making from the 1940s-1950s, a time when the design and artisanal manufacturing of wooden gliders were very widespread. These models were often published in specialized magazines and made by free flight enthusiasts.
