Description

This old metal plate has a shield shape, typical of canine distinctions or awards from that era. The piece features a matte reddish-brown background, circled by a black border that highlights its elegant contours. The front side, the only one visible in the photo, is molded in relief and bears the precise inscription: "Sté CANINE DE LA HAUTE-VIENNE / 1° EXCELLENT CLASSE OUVERTE" (CANINE SOCIETY OF HAUTE-VIENNE / 1st EXCELLENT OPEN CLASS). A small star symbol is also visible in the lower part.

The hole at the top of the plate suggests a wall or support mounting method, common for this type of distinction awarded at dog shows. The matte finish and relief lettering are typical of the 1950s to 1970s in the manufacture of French associative honorary plaques, even if no date is visible here.

The sober style, without superfluous ornamentation, emphasizes the legibility of the text and the official aspect of the award. The mention "1° Excellent Classe Ouverte" corresponds to a distinction awarded in the adult category during dog shows, highlighting the high quality of the winning dog.

The front surface, clearly visible in the photo, shows a slight, uniform patina, without chips or significant scratches. The entire relief remains clear, and the original coloring is well preserved. No structural defects are apparent on the visible side.

At the bottom right, an embossed marking, difficult to read in the photo, is visible; it is probably the manufacturer's signature or a production mention, a common practice on this type of honorary plaque.
