Vintage metal sign Canine Society Haute-Vienne Royal Canin retro decor

Description
This antique plaque features a characteristic heraldic shape, with rounded contours and a pointed bottom, typical of wall distinctions or awards given at competitions. The surface is light-colored, between beige and pale gray, with a border outlined by a dark trim, probably painted. The slightly shiny appearance and the presence of reliefs indicate a molded object, with a finish reminiscent of painted metal, consistent with the keywords.
The embossed inscription, perfectly legible, states: "Sté CANINE DE LA HAUTE-VIENNE AVEC ROYAL CANIN 3° EXCELLENT". The lettering is clean, with a sober, sans-serif typography, typical of official award plaques. A circular perforation at the top of the escutcheon allows for wall or stand mounting, a classic use for this type of distinction awarded at dog shows or purebred dog competitions.
The plaque shows some visible signs of wear on the edges, particularly small areas where the paint appears to have flaked off, probably revealing the underlying metallic material. Some superficial traces or dirt are also visible, mainly at the bottom of the plaque, indicating actual use or long-term storage.
The overall design is sober, without illustration or animal motif, focused on enhancing the text and the ranking ("3° EXCELLENT"). This type of object was generally awarded at the end of a competition organized by a regional canine society, here that of Haute-Vienne, in partnership with the Royal Canin brand.
The plaque rests here on an antique piece of furniture, which highlights its retro and decorative aspect. The object is distinguished by its original patina, typical of awards distributed in the 1970s to 1990s, a period corresponding to the aesthetic and use of this type of canine award.

Did you know? Canine award plaques, often made of enameled or painted metal, were traditionally awarded at regional and national competitions in France from the mid-20th century. Royal Canin, a French brand founded in 1968, quickly became a partner in many canine events, bringing increased visibility to these official distinctions.
