Description
This old printing plate, visible in the photo, is an authentic advertising typography tool. Made of copper-colored metal, it features an engraved relief surface, typical of traditional printing techniques used before the digital age. The exposed side shows a precise design including a house illustration surrounded by technical elements, as well as mirrored advertising text for printing. The main inscriptions, clearly visible, include "Votre équipement électrique" (Your electrical equipment) and other finer lines, all engraved in reverse for typography. The whole is mounted on a rigid, straight-edged plate, with visible fixing points.

The engraving style, the choice of motif (house, stylized electrical elements) and the typography are reminiscent of industrial advertising productions from the mid-20th century, a period when this type of plate was commonly used for the promotion of technical equipment or services. The lettering, clear and legible, evokes the utilitarian fonts of the 1950s-1960s, while the composition of the image, integrating text and illustration, demonstrates careful graphic design.

The surface shows a uniform patina, characteristic of old metal objects used in a workshop: slight oxidation and traces of use are observed, without major alteration to the engraved relief. The fine details of the engraving are well preserved, particularly in the illustrated parts and the lettering. No chips or missing parts are visible on the photographed side; a few workshop marks and oxidation spots dot the surface, highlighting its authenticity.

The mirrored text, once inked and pressed onto paper, allowed for a legible image to be produced for the public. This type of plate was generally mounted on a platen or cylinder press for printing flyers, catalogs, or advertisements.

The piece is displayed upright, against a background of an old bookshelf, which highlights its decorative and historical character. This type of object is now suitable for industrial decor as well as a testament to the artisanal past of printing.
