Description

This antique plaque, bearing the inscription "SOCIÉTÉ CANINE DU BOURBONNAIS" (Bourbonnais Canine Society) as well as the word "EXCELLENT", is escutcheon-shaped. It features a two-tone blue and white finish, diagonally separated, and adorned with three embossed fleur-de-lis motifs. The visible surface reveals embossed work on the inscriptions and motifs, typical of dog show or award plaques from the mid-20th century.

The plaque offers a distinctive retro aesthetic, with a combination of vibrant blue and off-white colors, framed by a discreet black line. The letters and motifs are in slight relief, giving it a robust appearance and good visibility. The whole is enhanced by a light patina, testifying to its age and its past use at regional dog shows.

The top of the plaque has a central perforation, probably intended for wall mounting or on a support, which meant it was destined to be displayed officially or honorifically. The edges show some signs of wear and small visible chips, mainly on the edge, without altering the legibility of the inscriptions or the general structure of the object.

The inscriptions "SOCIÉTÉ CANINE DU BOURBONNAIS" and "EXCELLENT" are clearly legible, as are the three fleurs-de-lis which recall the regional coat of arms. This type of plaque was often awarded at dog shows to reward dogs that had obtained an "Excellent" rating.

The graphic style, the use of embossed typography, and the colored finish evoke the production of enamel or metal plaques from the 1950s to 1970s, used in the cynology community in France.

Second-hand item, sold as is. Presence of wear marks, small paint or enamel chips visible on the perimeter, signs of use patina. No major missing parts on the displayed face, inscriptions perfectly legible.
