Description

This antique military plaque features a thick-edged escutcheon shape, typical of French regimental insignia. On the visible side, it displays two embossed motifs: on the left, a radiant sun with an expressive face, and on the right, a stylized grenade surmounted by the number "3". These visual elements are separated by a clean diagonal, giving the whole a structured and easily identifiable appearance.

The upper part of the escutcheon is topped by an embossed band bearing the inscription "AVEC LE SOURIRE" (WITH A SMILE), framed by two abbreviations "GE" on the left and "RE" on the right. The entire plaque has a patinated metallic finish, with golden and brown hues, highlighting the vintage character and authentic wear of the object.

The surface shows a grainy texture in some areas, while other parts are smoother, especially around the main motifs. The reliefs are well-defined, which highlights the molding work. No attachment system is visible in the photo, and only the front of the plaque is shown.

The general style, traditional military motifs, and motto suggest a manufacturing date prior to the contemporary period, probably mid-20th century, without being able to state it with certainty.

Condition

The object shows visible signs of wear, including a uniform patina, some marks and surface irregularities, with no apparent major chips on the visible side. Used plaque, sold as is.
