Wooden advertising sign Dry cleaning 54 Aubagne vintage decor France
AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
An old wooden advertising plaque, intended for the promotion of a dry cleaner located in Aubagne, France. The object has a rectangular shape with a slightly inclined base, designed to be placed on a counter or a flat surface. The visible surface displays a polychrome print: the text "Meilleurs Vœux" (Best Wishes) is inscribed at the top in red, accompanied by small star motifs, while the rest of the inscription is in green, with commercial information and the complete address of the dry cleaner.
The graphics are typical of late 20th-century advertising materials, combining various typefaces and highlighting the name "PRESSING 54" in an oval frame. Other visible mentions detail the services offered: shampooer rental, carpet cleaning, rug, armchair, car seat, suede and leather care, laundry. The 8-digit telephone number and the general presentation suggest manufacturing prior to the 1996 telephone reform, which supports the attribution to a vintage period, probably 70s-80s.
The wood finish reveals the natural grain, while the print shows some signs of wear consistent with the age of the object: light scratches, patina, small visible impacts. The corners are rounded and the plaque stands upright thanks to a beveled cut at the base, typical of counter signs of the era.
The complete text visible on the front is as follows: « Meilleurs Vœux SHAMPOOER RENTAL – CARPET RUG ARMCHAIR AND CAR SEAT PRESSING 54 Suede Cleaning – Leather Laundry 54 rue de la République 13400 AUBAGNE 42 82 09 13 ».

Did you know? During the 1970s-1980s, it was common for local shops in France to create wooden or metal advertising objects, distributed to their customers or displayed on counters. These supports were often personalized with the 8-digit telephone number, a practice replaced from 1996 by 10-digit dialing.
