Description

Old advertising keychain, with a slightly rounded rectangular shape, and a transparent surface revealing an internal label. On the visible side, the inscription "AU GANT de VELOURS" is clearly visible at the top, followed by the name "Mery-Lamain" written in handwritten letters on an orange starry background. Below, the mentions "Cité des Gourdis" and "MEZIDON" are clearly legible on a pale green background.

The keychain has a transparent plastic structure (visual material, not confirmed), which protects the internal advertising label. The whole is suspended from a metal ring, connected to an old carabiner-type attachment, showing a slight patina of use, characteristic of advertising objects made between the 1950s and 1970s.

The graphic design of the label, with its pastel colors and typography, evokes the advertising style of the post-war decades, often used by local businesses to build customer loyalty. The name "Mery-Lamain" and the location "Mézidon" refer to a regional establishment, probably specializing in the sale of gloves or textile items, as suggested by the mention "AU GANT de VELOURS".

The visible side of the keychain does not present any additional decoration or logo, with the exception of the aforementioned inscriptions. The object shows traces of use: discrete micro-scratches on the transparent surface and patina on the metallic part, without major chipping or apparent structural defect in the photo.

This type of advertising keychain, with its retro look, is emblematic of promotional items distributed in stores or during local events in the mid-20th century. It is a faithful testimony to regional commercial history and vintage utilitarian design.

Condition

Used item, sold as is. Presence of micro-scratches and patina of use on the metal and transparent surface, with no visible missing parts or breaks on the side shown.

Did you know? Transparent plastic advertising keychains, often called "plexiglass" in the jargon of the 1960s-1970s, were mass-produced in France. They were used to promote local businesses and have become, over time, witnesses to the economic and graphic heritage of the regions.
