Vintage retro blonde porcelain doll Scottish dress decor
AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
Here is an antique doll with a porcelain head, standing on a stand, with a delicately painted face featuring fine features, a rosy mouth, subtly tinted cheeks, and large, fixed blue eyes. Her blonde, curly hair is full and cascades over her shoulders, framing an expressive face typical of 20th-century European style dolls.
The doll wears an elaborate retro-inspired outfit: a full skirt in a burgundy, green, and beige plaid fabric, adorned with a geometric decorative band at the waist. The bottom of the skirt and the apron are made of brown and beige checked fabric, creating a very characteristic layered effect. The top consists of a white high-collared blouse embellished with lace, covered by a brown jacket with a houndstooth pattern on the lapels and sleeves, enhanced with fine lace trim.
The arms are covered with long patterned sleeves, finished with white lace cuffs. Under the skirt, a white petticoat and bloomer-style trousers, also edged with lace, complete the ensemble in a Victorian or country style. The hands and face are made of porcelain, with a visible glossy finish, reinforcing the antique and decorative nature of the object.
The doll is presented on a transparent base (stand visible in the photo), which allows for a good appreciation of the skirt and leg structure. No markings, logos, or inscriptions are apparent on the visible front. The back and underside of the doll are not visible in the image, so no information will be provided on this subject.
The contrast of fabrics, the richness of patterns, and the fineness of details (lace, trim, pleats) attest to the particular care taken in its manufacture, typical of vintage and retro decorative dolls. The dominant colors are brown, beige, off-white, and burgundy, with some touches of dark green and orange in the skirt pattern.
Condition
Used item sold as is. The doll shows some visible signs of wear on the jacket fabric and lace, consistent with old decorative use. The details of the face and hands appear to be in good condition on the visible part. For any purchase, please refer to the photos to assess the precise condition.
Did you know? Porcelain-headed dolls reached their peak in Europe between the late 19th and early 20th centuries. They were often handmade, with clothes inspired by regional or historical fashions, and served as both toys and decorative pieces in bourgeois interiors.
