Description

This antique display from the A. Raymond factory in Grenoble showcases a series of metal eyelets for shoes, mounted on an original cardboard panel. The board features a methodical organization, with each eyelet inserted in its position, accompanied by precise references printed directly on the support. The eyelets are arranged by category: "Economic", "Solid", and "Pratic", and are differentiated by the shape of their rim (round, flat, high) or by their apparent finish, with some pieces displaying varied metallic hues, and others enameled colors such as red, blue, or brown.

The panel bears a neat inscription at the top: "Manufacture de Boutons et d’Articles Métalliques — A. Raymond — Grenoble", underlined by golden ornaments and two medallions. The typography and layout clearly evoke the French industrial style of the mid-20th century. Several references are legible, such as "504", "602", "480 NCE 17", or "462 NCE 55", each identifying an eyelet model. The visible eyelets are of varied formats and appearances: some are bare metal with a shiny or matte finish, others are colored, and some have a lacquered or enameled look. The whole is mounted on a white background cardboard, framed in blue and gold, with traces of wear and patina that highlight its age.

The cardboard support is slightly tilted in the photo, resting on a wooden surface. The reference number "N° 214-40-58" is printed at the bottom right, confirming the industrial authenticity of the board. No eyelet appears to be missing on the visible side, and the ensemble maintains an orderly and professional presentation, typical of sales or sampling tools used in haberdashery or shoe workshops.

Several technical inscriptions appear: "ŒILLETS CHAUSSURES ACIER" (STEEL SHOE EYELETS), "BORD ROND" (ROUND RIM), "BORD PLAT" (FLAT RIM), "INVISIBLE", "SOLID", "PRATIC". These professional terms illustrate the diversity of models offered at the time for shoe manufacturing or repair. The eyelets themselves show design differences (rim, height, color), visible at first glance on the board.

The panel shows visible wear: traces of oxidation, dirt, and marks on the cardboard, testifying to real use. This gives it an authentic patina, sought after for vintage decoration or the study of past manufacturing techniques.

Condition

Used item, sold as is. Presence of traces of use, dirt, and oxidation marks on the board and some eyelets. Complete and stable on the visible side.
