Description

Old PHILIPS multiband radio, as seen in the photo, typical of 1950s/60s design. The device features a rectangular front with an exposed wood finish on the top and sides, combined with a black main front adorned with gold lines and numerous technical inscriptions, characteristic of models from that era. Two large, embossed gold knobs, positioned on either side of the front, are used for frequency selection and volume adjustment. Five rectangular white keys are arranged horizontally under the dial glass, allowing for band selection (FM, LW, MW, SW, etc.).

The central area of the radio displays a silk-screened glass dial, with "PHILIPS" and the brand logo clearly visible on the right. International station names and different wavebands (FM, LW, MW, SW) are inscribed in white letters on a black background, typical of mid-century tube radios. The device also features black bakelite visual elements on the front, harmonizing with the exposed wood.

The top part of the radio shows a used patina, with a worn or discolored varnish area on the top, testifying to the object's vintage authenticity. The circular embossed knobs show signs of use consistent with the device's age. The white keys on the bottom left and right complete the visible functionality, probably for selecting additional functions (not specified in the photo).

The overall style is distinctly retro, with an imposing horizontal format, clean lines, and a very graphic technical front. The inscription "Garnier Radio" appears subtly in gold on the wood, to the left under the dial. No wires, back, or interior are visible in this photo.

This PHILIPS radio embodies the utilitarian and elegant aesthetic of post-war European home appliances, combining traditional materials with the modernity of the 1950s/60s. It is a decorative as well as functional object, which can serve as a centerpiece in a vintage or industrial ambiance.
