Description

This antique straight razor features a classic silhouette, characterized by an elongated black handle with a smooth, matte finish. The straight blade shows a marked patina of use, testament to its age and traditional use. On the visible part of the tang, the inscription "SOLINGEN" is clearly engraved, attesting to its recognized origin.

The set is photographed on a burgundy red velvet case, providing an elegant contrast that highlights the sobriety of the handle and the attenuated shine of the blade. The blade has a matte surface with visible traces of oxidation and wear, typical of old steel used over the years. The blade's nose is rounded, suitable for traditional old-fashioned shaving.

The handle, with its fine and slightly tapered section, is fixed by an apparent rivet at the base. Its dark and slightly translucent finish suggests careful manufacturing, without visible decorative motifs, in a sober and utilitarian style. No additional decoration is visible on the shown face of the blade or handle.

The mechanics of the straight razor, with its movable pivot, are clearly visible in the photo, allowing the blade to be opened and closed into the handle for secure storage. This model perfectly illustrates the traditional shaving tools used before the advent of the safety razor.

The Solingen straight razor is particularly sought after for the quality of its steel and the precision of its cut, characteristics of German production from the Solingen region, renowned for its sharp instruments.

Condition

Used item sold as is. The blade shows superficial oxidation and traces of use, with no visible chips on the shown side. The handle is in good apparent condition, with no cracks on the visible part.
