Expert visual description

This lot consists of two period postal receipts, dated 1962, issued in Pargny-sur-Saulx (Marne). These administrative documents are printed on matte white paper, typical of official forms from the early 1960s. The first receipt, visible in the top left of the image, bears the handwritten mention "Récépissé 358" and indicates an amount of 5.40 NF, with a stamp dated 24-1-1962. The second, larger, is a receipt for a registered or declared value mailing, with various areas to fill in, including a handwritten "Destinataire" (Recipient) section addressed to "M. or Mme R. Clémenceau Marcel," as well as a postal stamp identical to that of the first document.

Both pieces feature neat administrative typography, with printed boxes for amounts, signatures, and addresses. The handwritten entries are made in blue ink, adding an authentic and personal touch to the set. Both documents show signs of period handling, with no major tears visible on the photographed side.

The official postmark "PARGNY SUR SAULX / MARNE" is clearly legible on each receipt, attesting to their geographical origin. The printed mentions specify "Récépissé d’un envoi recommandé ou avec valeur déclarée" (Receipt for a registered or declared value mailing) and "Récépissé du mandat" (Money order receipt), characteristic elements of the French postal service in the 1960s. The presence of an amount in new francs (NF) confirms the post-1960 monetary reform postal period.

The formats are rectangular, with slightly rounded corners for the larger document. Both visible sides are clean, with slight signs of use and a discreet patina, testifying to their age and careful preservation. No superfluous decoration or pattern: the aesthetic is purely functional, true to the spirit of administrative documents of that era.

Condition

These postal mailing receipts are second-hand and sold as-is. The visible sides show moderate signs of use, with no noticeable snags or tears, and the handwritten entries as well as the stamps are perfectly legible.

Did you know? French postal receipts bearing the mention "nouveaux francs" (NF) are characteristic of the 1960s, a period of monetary transition. The reform introduced in 1960 replaced the old franc with the new franc, which is reflected in period administrative documentation. This type of document, issued by local post offices, officially served to certify the dispatch and the declared amount for money orders or registered mail.
