Description

This document is an old copy of the university journal "CONFERENCIA," published under the general direction of Yvonne Sarcey. It is issue number 3 of the 16th year (1921-1922), dated January 15, 1922. The cover features a typical 1920s layout, with a title printed in large letters and a medallion photograph of Mr. René Boylesve, a member of the Académie Française.

The visible side of the journal is made of cream-colored paper, printed in black, with a simple and elegant typography characteristic of early 20th-century French intellectual press. The detailed table of contents, clearly legible, lists lectures and literary texts, notably on "Les petites patries: Le Jardin de la France," "L'Amour et les Poètes: Les Aveux," as well as poems by great classical authors such as Ronsard, Musset, Lamartine, and many others.

Also noteworthy is the presence of a "Music – Les Sources Éternelles: L'Hellade et la Beauté" section by Gaston Rageot, as well as practical cooking courses by Dr. de Pomiane-Pozerski. The mention "Illustrations – Portraits – Estampes" suggests additional visual content inside, not visible on the cover.

The page edges show a slight patina, typical of old papers, with visible wear on the upper right corner. No major tears are observable on the visible side. The printed original price ("Le N° 1 Franc") and the publisher's address in Paris ("5, Rue La-Bruyère") confirm the authenticity of this period periodical.

This journal is a valuable testimony to French university and cultural life in the 1920s, both in its content and its editorial aesthetic. The format appears classic for an intellectual journal of this period, with a saddle-stitched binding visible on the left.

Condition

Used item, sold as is. The cover shows an age-related patina, some signs of wear, and slight creases on the corners, with no missing parts or extraneous markings on the visible side.

Did you know? The "Conferencia" journal was a major dissemination organ for lectures from the Université des Annales, an institution founded in Paris in 1907 to democratize culture through public lectures. Its paper format allowed for the preservation of intellectual testimony from major figures of French literary and scientific life in the early 20th century.
