Description

This old magazine is a copy of the academic journal "Conférencia," published by the Université des Annales. The issue presented here is No. 14 of the 19th year, dated July 1, 1925, as indicated on the cover. The cover features a design typical of the 1920s, with a clean layout and dark blue print on a beige background. A photographic portrait of Mr. Henry Bordeaux is printed in the center, surrounded by the titles of the lectures and articles included in this issue.

The main title "CONFÉRENCIA" is clearly visible, followed by the mention "Journal de l’Université des Annales." The name of the founding director, Yvonne Sarcey, is also inscribed at the top of the page. The table of contents, printed at the bottom of the cover, lists several lectures and articles, including: "La Princesse de Clèves" by Henry Bordeaux, "La Touraine, Province Française" by René Benjamin, and "Musique : L’Amour dans Chopin et dans Schumann" by Gabrielle Réval. Several other speakers and topics of art, music, and culture are listed, illustrating the intellectual richness of the journal.

The visual aspect is true to the prints of the era, with a soft cover and slightly blunted corners, typical of the document's use and age. The beige paper, patinated by time, shows some visible signs of wear, notably a slight stain on the right side of the cover and traces of handling at the edges. The spine of the booklet, visible on the left, shows classic stapled binding for this type of antique publication.

The inscriptions at the bottom of the cover specify the original price "Le N° 1 Franc 25" and the publisher's address in Paris (6, Rue La-Bruyère, Paris-9e). The subscription conditions of the time and the mention "Tous droits réservés" (All rights reserved) are also found at the bottom left.

This issue of "Conférencia" is an authentic testament to French cultural and intellectual life in the 1920s, both in its content and its editorial aesthetic.
