Description

This pocket detective novel, titled Le loup habillé en grand-mère (The Wolf Dressed as Grandmother), is by San-Antonio, an iconic pseudonym in French crime fiction. The cover features an illustration typical of retro style, with two male characters depicted in deep discussion in an office setting, one standing in a brown suit, the other seated, focused on documents. The dominant colors are brown, beige, and olive green, lending the whole an dark and intriguing atmosphere, characteristic of Fleuve Noir editions of the era.

The mention SAN-ANTONIO is printed in thick black letters on a white band at the top of the cover, against a background of a discreet repetitive pattern. The novel's title is clearly legible, in white, on the lower half of the cover: Le loup habillé en grand-mère. At the bottom, the mention FLEUVE NOIR in red indicates the publisher, known for its popular detective series of the 20th century.

The book is presented in paperback format, with a soft cover. There are visible signs of wear on the surface: distinct creases, vertical and horizontal scratches visible on the lower right part, slight scuff marks, and blunted corners, indicating prior use but also the vintage authenticity of the copy.

The overall graphics, typography, and illustration correspond to a vintage edition, probably from the 1960s to 1980s, consistent with the aesthetic of San-Antonio crime novels published by Fleuve Noir. No other text or details are visible on the front. The item is photographed in front of a bookshelf of old bindings, but only the front of the book is visible.

Condition

The item is second-hand and sold as is. Presence of creases, scratches, and worn corners on the cover visible in the photo. The interior and spine are not visible.
