Description

This antique door lock features an exposed mechanism and robust construction, typical of traditional ironwork. The object has a rectangular plate with rounded and ornamented edges on one end, with several perforations for attachment to a door. The assembly is completed by a rotary knob, a protruding bolt, and a screw-locking latch, all visible on the photographed side.

The mechanism consists of a set of movable parts: a circular embossed knob, a spiral cam, and a manual screw-locking system with a knurled head. The overall appearance reveals a dark, homogeneous patina, with traces of oxidation and a granular surface, characteristic of unrestored antique locks. The rectangular bolt and the locking latch are also visible, highlighting the defensive function of this type of hardware.

The style of the plate, with its rounded cutouts and functional simplicity, evokes artisanal productions from the 19th and early 20th centuries, commonly used on rustic or rural interior doors. No markings or inscriptions are visible on the exposed side.
