Description

Religious statue depicting the crowned Virgin Mary, created in a sober and vertical style typical of Christian statuary. The work shows the Virgin standing, hands joined in prayer, a long veil falling over her shoulders and covering almost the entire silhouette. A sculpted rosary is visible, descending along her robe, a characteristic detail of Marian representations.

The statue features a uniform black finish, highlighting the volumes and folds of the garment. The finely sculpted face displays a contemplative expression, while the stylized crown surmounts the head, accentuating the sacred character of the figure. The base is integrated into the sculpture, with a rounded and sober shape, without superfluous decoration.

The sculpted wood craftsmanship is visible in the smooth structure and the vertical lines that mark the robe, giving the whole an uncluttered elegance. No polychromy or gilding is observable on the visible front, which reinforces the solemnity of the piece.
