Description

This French phone card, visible in the photo, is a chip model, issued for the General Council of Nord for the 20th anniversary of Gîtes de France Nord in 1996. The card features a predominantly yellow and green design, with the official "Gîtes de France" logo in the upper left corner, and a green star in the center mentioning "20 ans en 1996" (20 years in 1996). Two photographs illustrate the card: one shows a child in a flowery field, the other a typical rural building, probably a gîte, placed in a frame at the bottom right.

The golden chip area is clearly visible on the left side of the card, characteristic of French telecommunications of that era. The inscription "CONSEIL GENERAL DU NORD" is printed in black below the chip, while "Télécarte 50" appears at the bottom left in a yellow box on a black background, indicating a capacity of 50 communication units.

The visible surface of the card shows a smooth and shiny finish, typical of laminated phone cards from the 1990s. The colors remain vibrant on the front shown, with no noticeable fading. The graphics and visual elements are perfectly legible, with clear contrasts between the yellow background, green frames, and black and green texts.

The design of the card, as well as the explicit mention of the year 1996, precisely date its production period. This item belongs to the heyday of chip phone cards in France, before the widespread adoption of mobile phones.

The visible card appears to be in good general condition on the front, without major scratches, chips, or pronounced signs of wear, subject to examination of the other sides not visible in the photo.

Did you know? Chip phone cards were introduced in France in 1983, replacing tokens and allowing precise control of communication credit on public telephones. Special series, such as this one dedicated to Gîtes de France Nord, were often produced in limited editions for events or regional institutions.
