Description

This telephone card, visible in the photo, is a 50-unit chip card, issued by France Télécom to promote the Minitel under the Magis brand. The front features a two-part composition: on the left, a blue background with the Magis logo, the integrated gold chip, and the inscription "Le Minitel par France Télécom" accompanied by the France Télécom logo. On the right, a color photograph illustrates a Minitel terminal placed on a desk, with an interior decor in the background, as well as a "Télécarte 50" label at the top right. The whole offers a striking visual contrast between the blue and the warm tones of the photo.

The surface of the card shows smooth and glossy finishes, characteristic of French telephone cards from the 1990s to 2000s. The golden electronic chip is clearly visible on the left side, confirming the technology used at the time for storing units. The contours of the card are sharp and regular, without apparent chipping on the visible side.

The inscriptions are perfectly legible on this side. We can clearly distinguish the mention "Magis", the text "Le Minitel par France Télécom" as well as the institutional logo. The photograph of the Minitel, a device that became iconic of French computing, occupies a central place on the right side, reinforcing the promotional aspect of this telephone card.

This telephone card is typical of the Minitel's expansion period, a videotex service that marked the history of telecommunications in France. The graphic design, the integration of the chip, and the institutional presentation are representative of the telephone cards distributed by France Télécom at the end of the 20th century.

Condition

Used item, sold as is. The visible side presents a generally clean appearance, without major scratches or excessive wear visible in the photo. Possible micro-traces of use, in accordance with the age and typical use of a telephone card from that era.

Did you know? The Minitel, launched in the early 1980s, allowed France to become a pioneer in public access to online information, long before the rise of the Internet. Chip telephone cards appeared in France in 1983 and became a real social phenomenon, both for their use and for their value as an advertising and commemorative medium.
