Description

This French telephone card, known as a "télécarte", is a vintage 50-unit example, featuring a predominantly white front with clean, well-preserved graphic and textual elements. On the visible side, we can see the famous red ribbon, the international symbol of the fight against AIDS, here represented as a coiled thread. To the right of the ribbon, text printed in black highlights the importance of listening to and supporting people affected by HIV/AIDS, their loved ones, and those who accompany them. This message is accompanied by the inscription "Sida Info Service" at the bottom right, with the telephone number 05.36.66.36 in green, a distinctive element of this awareness campaign.

The lower-left corner of the card clearly states "Télécarte 50", indicating its unit capacity. The golden electronic chip, typical of French smart cards from the 1990s, is clearly visible on the left, with no apparent signs of excessive wear. The card has a standard rectangular format with rounded corners, in line with France Télécom productions of that era. No major defects are visible on the front surface; the graphics and colors have remained intact, without significant alteration.

The whole is presented on a soft, orange-yellow background, which highlights the sobriety and clarity of the télécarte's design. The inscriptions are perfectly legible, notably the small "l'agence verte" on the right edge, which attests to its production by a specialized communication agency. This card is a visual testament to an emblematic prevention and information campaign in France.

The refined design, focused on the red ribbon symbol and the message of solidarity, reflects the aesthetic of public communication materials from the 1990s, a period during which the use of télécartes was at its peak in France. This card offers a beautiful example of a telephone card that is both utilitarian and carries a strong societal message.

Condition

Used item, sold as is. The visible side is in good overall condition, with no prominent scratches or significant signs of wear. The inscriptions and visual are clear.

Did you know? The red ribbon became the international symbol of the fight against HIV/AIDS in 1991, at the initiative of New York artists. In France, smart télécartes experienced their golden age in the 1990s, serving not only for making calls but also as a medium for national awareness campaigns.
