Description

This listing is for a vintage chip phone card, 50-unit edition, as shown in the photo. The card features a rectangular design with rounded corners, in a matte finish dominated by fuchsia pink. The central element of the visual is the word "VARESS" inscribed in large yellow typography, diagonally angled across the front. Surrounding this inscription, a circular motif composed of the words "PARFUM DE FÊTE POUR FEMME INTELLIGENTE QUI PETILLE" (PARTY PERFUME FOR INTELLIGENT, SPARKLING WOMEN) in black lettering can be seen, evoking an advertising theme related to perfume.

Two small illustrated perfume bottles, also bearing the name "VARESS," are visible on the card: one at the bottom left and the other at the center right. In the upper right, the mention "Télécarte 50" appears on a darker pink background, confirming the card's capacity. The electronic component (gold chip) is clearly visible on the upper part, characteristic of French phone cards from the 90s. No other text or logo is identifiable on this side, apart from the graphic decoration evoking the world of feminine perfumery.

The card is photographed on a golden yellow textile background, which highlights its vibrant colors. The visible surface of the card shows no major scratches or notable chips, but a few slight signs of use are perceptible, typical of a used item.

This type of chip phone card, also known as a smart card phone card, was used in French public phone booths and is now a sought-after item in the world of vintage phone cards and perfume advertising.

Condition

Did you know? Chip phone cards were introduced in France in the early 1980s, gradually replacing telephone tokens. Advertising editions, like the one dedicated to Varess perfume, were frequently issued in the 1990s to promote brands and became emblematic of this period of technological transition.
