Description

This lot includes ten postage stamps visible in the photo, presented in an album with horizontal strips. The upper part shows two distinct stamps: on the left, a Gabonese Republic stamp with a face value of 100F, illustrated with an imposing tree and foliage, bearing the inscription "ABATTAGE D’OKOUMÉ" (OKOUMÉ LOGGING); on the right, a predominantly orange and brown stamp, bearing the inscription "RF 15" and the representation of a bird (probably an owl, a clearly identifiable motif).

The lower part of the image shows eight Mauritanian stamps, bearing the inscription "MAURITANIE RF POSTES" (MAURITANIA RF POSTS) and "AFRIQUE OCCIDENTALE FRANÇAISE" (FRENCH WEST AFRICA). These stamps come in several colors (red, violet, green, black, pink, brown) and face values (70c, 60c, 40c, 1f40, 1f60, 1f25, 90c). The main motifs depict nomadic life scenes with people and camels in front of tents, typical of colonial iconography of Mauritania under French administration.

All stamps are mounted in a philatelic album with black plastic strips, which allows the appreciation of the margins and perforations of each specimen. The colors of the stamps appear well preserved, with clear impressions and visible graphic details on each one.

The legends, values, and illustrations are clearly legible. No cancellation mark is visible on the presented face for most of these stamps (some inscriptions might be obscured by the album's shine, but no marks are clearly observable in the provided photo).

This lot illustrates French colonial themes, with a focus on Mauritania and a Gabon supplement. The stamps are presented in good visual condition, without apparent folds or tears in the image. The album presentation protects the stamps from dust and handling.

Condition

Used item, sold as is. The stamps appear in good overall condition, with no visible defects on the presented face.

Did you know? French West Africa stamps were issued for the French colonies in Africa between the late 19th century and 1959, before the independence of the various territories. The motifs of nomadic scenes and local landscapes were typical of the period and reflect the colonial iconography used for postal and propaganda purposes.
