Red THORIN advertising corkscrew, rare vintage bottle opener
AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
This old advertising corkscrew, visible in the photo, features a multifunctional structure typical of sommelier accessories. The object has a burgundy red finish on the handle, highlighted by the inscription "THORIN" in white capital letters, perfectly legible and centered on the main face. The metal part includes a helical screw with an exposed spiral, designed to extract bottle corks, as well as an integrated bottle opener at the opposite end, which is rounded and perforated, allowing for the opening of bottle caps.
The design is compact and functional, characteristic of old bar tools. The appearance of the handle suggests a smooth surface, probably with a lacquered or tinted plastic finish, with no additional decorative patterns other than the brand. The visible metallic parts show a polished sheen, with no apparent oxidation in the photo. The assembly between the handle and the metallic elements is secured by a riveted hinge, visible on the side.
This THORIN corkscrew, with its deep red color and clear lettering, is typical of advertising items produced for wine or spirits companies. The overall style, combining simplicity and efficiency, suggests manufacturing dating probably from the mid to late 20th century, which is consistent with the "vintage" keywords.
The object is presented resting on a raw wood surface, which enhances its shade and retro appearance. No additional decoration or pattern is observed, which reinforces the visibility of the THORIN brand. The corkscrew combines three visible functions: corkscrew, bottle opener, and lever for opening swing-top bottles, making it a versatile tool for serving wine or beer.
The visible side shows no secondary inscriptions or additional markings. The overall condition appears good, with a uniform patina and no major visible defects in the photo.
Condition
