Description

This vintage advertising corkscrew features a classic waiter's corkscrew design, combining a corkscrew with a bottle opener function, typical of mid-20th century bistro and catering accessories. The piece pictured offers a compact and functional silhouette, with a smooth-looking light-colored handle, on which the inscription "MARCEL MARTIN LA SABLETTE" is clearly legible in black letters on the visible side.

The metal structure of the mechanism, visible in the photo, shows a matte gray patina, characteristic of regular use or natural aging. The corkscrew's worm is a regular, well-centered spiral, and the integrated bottle opener is located at the opposite end, in an open hexagonal shape, suitable for opening crown-cap bottles.

The overall assembly presents simple and robust finishes, typical of utilitarian objects distributed for advertising in bars, cafes, or restaurants. The appearance of the handle suggests an old plastic material or clear resin, without decorative patterns, with a uniform and slightly shiny surface depending on the light. The advertising inscription, sober and without flourishes, is printed directly on the side face of the handle.

The general style, typography, and combination of functions (corkscrew + bottle opener) suggest a production from the 1960s to 1980s, a period when this type of object was frequently offered as a promotional gift by wine and spirit brands or hotel establishments. No other pattern, logo, or decor is visible on the presented side.

This advertising waiter's corkscrew is presented in a closed position on an old wooden stand, highlighting its elongated and ergonomic line. All visible parts appear securely fastened, without apparent play, and the metal part of the bottle opener shows some signs of use.

Condition

Used item, sold as is. Visible signs of use: slight patina on the metal, intact advertising inscription, handle surface showing some micro-scratches from use, no major chips.

Did you know? Waiter's corkscrews, invented in France in the late 19th century, became a standard in catering thanks to their dual function: opening wine bottles and metal caps. Advertising models like this one were often distributed by wine merchants or seaside establishments to promote their name to customers.
