This antique fabric shown in the photo is a superb example of a liturgical-style brocade textile, made using the jacquard technique. The visible side shows a velvet with a dark background, probably midnight blue or black, adorned with a rich floral pattern embroidered with light and gold threads. The decoration consists of large stylized flowers and plant scrolls, typical of religious ornamentation and church textiles.
