Vintage GE 6L6GC electron tube USA with original box, old radio
AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
This lot includes a GE (General Electric) electronic tube, model 6L6GC, presented with its original box. The tube, clearly visible in the photo, features a transparent cylindrical glass envelope, revealing its internal components, typical of power tubes for vintage audio or radio equipment. The black base has a yellow "USA" inscription, and the GE logo is clearly identifiable on both the box and the tube. The inscription "6L6GC 15C USA" is legible on the glass, confirming the model and American origin of this tube.
The original cardboard box features a 60s-70s graphic design, with the stylized GE logo in black on an orange background, and the words "Electronic tube" in black letters on a light grey background. The box shows signs of wear, including creased corners and a patinated appearance, but remains structurally sound with all its sides visible. The top opening is partially unfolded, indicating its age and probable use.
The tube appears clean, with no visible signs of burning or cracks on the glass part. The metal pins at the base are aligned and appear to be in good condition, with no apparent oxidation. No major structural defects are observable in the photographed area. This type of tube was originally used in tube audio amplifiers, vintage radio sets, or professional and amateur sound equipment.
The general style of the packaging, the graphics, and the typographies used correspond to American production from the second half of the 20th century, probably between the 1960s and 1970s, a period when the 6L6 series was very widespread in the electronics industry.
This GE 6L6GC tube is intended for the restoration or display of antique equipment, and it is particularly sought after for its audio qualities in the field of vintage hi-fi equipment or guitar amplifiers.
Condition
Used item, sold as is, untested. The original box shows visible signs of wear on the edges and opening. The tube shows no apparent visual defects on the visible side, but its functionality has not been checked.
