Detailed Visual Description

This lot includes a VR-91 radio tube manufactured by Sylvania, accompanied by its original box stamped Air Ministry (AM) with the reference "10E/92". The tube has an elongated cylindrical shape, with a matte burgundy red body and a silver metallic base with several visible connection pins. The inscription "SYLVANIA MADE IN U.S.A." is clearly visible on the tube's surface, as well as a "10E/92" reference printed in black. The tube's finish is uniform, without decorative patterns, and its metallic base features a crown of pins typical of military-era electronic valves or tubes.

The original cardboard box, light beige in color, bears a clear black marking: a stylized crown surmounted by the letters "A M" (for Air Ministry), followed by "VR-91" and "10E/92". This type of packaging was specific to radio equipment delivered to the British air forces during World War II. The box shows some signs of wear, creases, and marks related to its age, but maintains good legibility of the inscriptions and an overall solid structure.

The tube itself appears in good visual condition, with no visible cracks or chips on the upper part or the metallic base. All pins are present and aligned, their surface showing a slight metallic patina. The red hue of the body is uniform, and the silkscreen remains legible despite slight handling marks. No additional accessories are visible in the photo, and only the front of the box and tube is presented.

This type of electronic tube, also called a "radio valve" or "vacuum tube", was used in military radio transmission and reception equipment, particularly in British aviation during the world conflict. The set displays a utilitarian style, typical of 1940s military equipment, with a functional and robust design.

Condition

Used item, sold as is. Signs of wear on the box, tube in good visual condition with legible silkscreen and intact pins. Not tested for functionality.

Did you know? VR-91 tubes were specifically referenced by the British Air Ministry to equip the on-board radios of Royal Air Force aircraft during World War II. Sylvania, an American manufacturer, supplied many electronic components to the Allies, and its "Made in USA" marking testifies to transatlantic cooperation in the production of strategic military material.
