Description

This 45 rpm vinyl record comes in its original sleeve, predominantly yellow, illustrated with a stylized graphic depicting a musician in a black silhouette playing a drum against a white background. The visual, typical of 1950s-60s Latin music sleeves, immediately catches the eye with its striking contrast and clean aesthetic.

At the top of the sleeve, the inscription "AL CASTELLANOS Vol. 1" appears in black capital letters, in a font that is both geometric and decorative. Just below, the words "ET SON ORCHESTRE CUBAIN" (AND HIS CUBAN ORCHESTRA) are also in black letters, dynamically arranged on the left side.

In the lower left corner, the Versailles label logo is visible, accompanied by the mentions "Haute Fidélité" (High Fidelity), "90 S 103", "Super 45 T. Standard" and "Série Mardi-Gras" (Mardi-Gras Series) in black characters. These elements confirm the original pressing on the French label specializing in world music and high fidelity.

The sleeve shows significant signs of wear: blunted corners, creases, dirt, and visible marks, particularly on the edges and main surface. However, the overall graphic legibility remains good, and the illustration is well preserved despite the signs of time.

The record is not visible in the photo; only the exterior of the sleeve is shown. No details are observable regarding the condition of the vinyl itself or its center label.

Condition

Used item sold as is, untested. Original sleeve shows signs of wear, creases, and marks of time, visible in the photo.

Did you know? The Versailles label, primarily active in the 1950s and 1960s, distinguished itself in France by distributing Latin and exotic music, helping to popularize Cuban and Caribbean sounds among the European public. Al Castellanos was one of the Cuban orchestra leaders who contributed to this craze for Afro-Cuban music on 45 rpm vinyl.
