Description

This 45 rpm vinyl record features the famous French singer Mireille Mathieu on the front cover, photographed in close-up wearing a blue turtleneck sweater, in a style characteristic of the 1970s. The jacket highlights the title "Le vieux café de la Rue d'Amérique" in beige letters against a photographic background. The artist's name, Mireille Mathieu, appears in large blue letters on the lower right, accompanied by the Philips logo and the mention "c'est une publication phonogram" (it's a phonogram publication) on the lower left. The cover's visual is credited to Norman Parkinson, a renowned photographer, whose name is also mentioned.

The visible side of the cover shows moderate signs of wear: slightly blunted corners, handling marks, and a small handwritten note in black ink, centered on the artist's forehead. The color print is still vibrant, with a strong contrast between the blue of the garment and the blurred background, typical of portrait photographs of the era. The inscriptions are clear and legible, with the exception of a few micro-scratches on the cardboard surface.

The record is not visible in the photo, but the mention "45 tours" (45 rpm) in the keywords indicates that it is a single or a small-format EP, which corresponds to the standard for this type of musical production in the 60s-70s.

The jacket, a soft cardboard sleeve type, conforms to the standards of French singles released by Philips during that period. The retro graphics, typography, and color palette reinforce the vintage aspect and authenticity of the item.

Did you know? Mireille Mathieu began her career in the 1960s and became one of the iconic voices of French chanson, recording over 1200 songs in eleven languages. The Philips label, mentioned on the cover, was one of the main record publishers in Europe during this period and contributed to the international dissemination of many French artists.
