Vintage Blue CIWL Passenger Coach HO – Retro Old Miniature Train
AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description: This miniature passenger car represents a carriage from the Compagnie Internationale des Wagons-Lits (CIWL), recognizable by its blue livery with yellow pinstripes and golden inscriptions. The model features an elongated structure with numerous side windows, typical of luxury cars used on major European trains in the mid-20th century. On the visible side, the inscriptions "COMPAGNIE INTERNATIONALE DES WAGONS-LITS" and "LITS DE GRANDE LUXE" are clearly distinguishable, as are the CIWL coat of arms and the words "SLEEPING CAR" in gold letters. The finish evokes the retro aesthetic of old models, with a curved silver-gray roof and molded black bogies. The marking details and the faithful reproduction of the windows provide an appreciable realism to this piece.
The car body is decorated with two longitudinal yellow stripes, highlighting the elegance of the CIWL style. The windows are regular, with two end compartments fitted with portholes, and the whole rests on two four-wheel bogies each, visible in the photo. The buffers, couplings, and engravings are well reproduced on the observed side. No locomotive element is visible in this image: it is indeed a passenger car, not a power car or a locomotive.
The dominant shade is a deep blue typical of CIWL models, enhanced by the brilliance of the golden pinstripes and the presence of small technical markings near the doors. The overall appearance of the car evokes the vintage period of the 1950s-1970s, a period when this type of reproduction was common in HO miniature trains. The object is presented in an inclined position on a wooden surface, which allows observation of the underside of the chassis and the details of the wheels, without however seeing the complete underside or the interior.
Some traces of wear, small scratches, and signs of use are visible on the paintwork and the roof, testifying to previous use. The markings remain clear and legible, and the windows are in place. The coupling and bogies appear intact on the visible side, which is important for use on a miniature network or for display.
Condition: Used item, sold as is. Traces of use and small marks are present, consistent with the age of the piece. See photo for more details on the actual condition.
