Description

This document is an old share certificate from the Compagnie de Participations et de Gestion (C.O.P.A.G.), issued to the bearer for a value of five hundred francs. The document features an ornamental blue frame, typical of French financial securities from the early 20th century. The upper part, clearly legible, displays the full name of the company, its share capital, as well as the handwritten signatures of two directors.

The classic rectangular shape of the share is highlighted by a repetitive blue pattern border on an off-white background. The center of the document bears the handwritten inscription "Action de Cinq Cents Francs" (Share of Five Hundred Francs), as well as "Au porteur – Entièrement libérée" (To bearer – Fully paid up). The unique share number "000341" is printed repeatedly on the main part and on the detachable coupons.

At the bottom of the document, a series of detachable coupons numbered 1 to 29 is visible, each bearing the mention "Action" followed by the same number, as well as the company's red stamp. These coupons, printed on the same sheet, were used to collect dividends or interest related to this financial security. Several coupons show signs of wear, folds, and slight discoloration, testifying to the document's age.

The typeface, security patterns, layout style, and the presence of red stamps are characteristic of French shares from the 1920s-1930s. The main inscriptions are printed in blue and black, with handwritten signatures in black ink. The paper, although yellowed by time, remains generally in good structural condition, with traces of handling on the edges and coupons.

This document is ideal for a wall or display case presentation, thanks to its retro graphics and the richness of its typographical and ornamental details. The visible side shows no major tears, but some fold marks are apparent, particularly on the corners and lower coupons.

Condition

Used item sold as is, with signs of wear, folds, and visible patina throughout the document. The inscriptions remain legible on the displayed side.

Did you know? Bearer shares were common in France until the mid-20th century. They allowed their holder to exercise financial rights anonymously, without nominative mention, which made them a preferred medium for investors of the time.
