AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
This period document is a bearer share, more specifically a profit share issued by the Société Minière & Électrique des Landes, dated December 31, 1929. The certificate features an ornamental blue-grey border typical of French shares and bonds from the early 20th century, with careful printing and repetitive geometric patterns around the edges.
At the top, the company name is clearly visible, along with the share capital and the registered office in Paris. Several stamps are visible, including that of the "MINELA" company, reinforcing the document's authenticity. The central area shows the designation "Profit share to bearer without par value," as well as the individual number 000255. Handwritten signatures of directors are present at the bottom of the certificate.
The lower part of the document is occupied by a series of numbered coupons, from 2 to 32, each bearing the inscription "Société Minière Électrique des Landes" and "Profit share coupon" followed by the coupon number. The coupons, printed in blue, also bear the company stamp. The entire document is printed on fine-textured paper, typical of old financial securities, with a slight patina visible on the edges, testifying to its age.
There is a wide white margin around the document, and the paper cut is clean. The graphic style, the use of old fonts, and the document structure are characteristic of French financial securities from the late 1920s. No reverse side or back details are visible in this photograph.
Condition
This old financial security is pre-owned and shows a period patina, with visible signs of wear on the edges, but no major tears apparent on the visible side. The overall condition appears well-preserved, with all main inscriptions legible.
Did you know? Profit shares were often granted to a company's founders or directors upon its creation, giving them a right to profits without conferring voting rights. This type of document, typical of French finance in the 1920s, reflects the industrial and mining boom of the period, as well as the diversification of financing methods through bearer securities.
