Description

This document, visible in the photo, is a bearer share issued by the Société Générale de Gestion, dated September 15, 1913. Printed in blue on decorative letterhead, this financial instrument features an ornamental frame in a style typical of the early 20th century, with floral motifs and watermarks surrounding the entire document. The stated par value is 100 Francs, and the document bears the number 692, visible in the central part and on each detachable coupon at the bottom of the document.

The upper part clearly mentions the name "Société Générale de Gestion" as well as the share capital of 250,000 francs. The printed and handwritten signatures of the directors and the auditor are visible in the central part, as well as a round stamp at the bottom, adding to the authenticity of this period document. The text is printed in blue on a white background, giving a sober and elegant appearance to the whole.

The lower part of the document features a series of 32 numbered coupons, associated with the same share number (No. 692). Each coupon bears the mention "Société Générale de Gestion," the share number, and the coupon number (from 1 to 32). The coupons are regularly arranged in four horizontal rows. The borders are also elaborately designed, recalling the graphic style of financial documents from the Belle Époque.

This type of document, called a bearer share, was intended to certify ownership of a part of a company's capital, transferable simply by physical delivery of the title. The overall condition appears good for its age, with slight handling marks visible on the upper edges (slight curvature and small marks).

All main inscriptions are clearly legible, including the issue date, value, issuing company, signatures, and numbers. No details of the verso or back are visible in the provided photo.

Condition

Used item, sold as is. The overall condition is consistent with the age of the document, with slight marks visible on the edges. The inscriptions are legible, and the whole remains decorative.

Did you know? Bearer shares were commonly used in France until the mid-20th century. They allowed the investor to remain anonymous, with ownership of the title being proven solely by physical possession of the document. This method of holding was gradually abandoned in favor of registered securities for traceability and security reasons.
