Context
Piatnik is a Viennese company historically associated with the manufacture of playing cards and board games, founded in the 19th century and still identified with Austrian playing card production. The decoration of this box set is inspired by the works of Alphonse Mucha, a major figure in Art Nouveau, whose advertising and decorative compositions from the late 19th century widely disseminated the image of the floral woman, sinuous lines, and ornamental frames.
