Old 19th-century French handwritten administrative letter, written with a quill on old paper, with a tax stamp, cursive script, initials and signatures.

Description

Handwritten administrative document, dated in the body of the text from the early 19th century, with mentions from 1808 and 1813. The whole features beautiful cursive script in brown ink, organized in regular lines, with traced margins, cross-references, annotations and numbering.

The document includes a printed 75-centime tax stamp, as well as several signatures and initials visible at the end of the sheet. The content includes mentions relating to deeds, notes, receipts, acknowledgments and inventory items, using administrative and legal vocabulary typical of the writings of the period.

Context

This type of handwritten document was part of 19th-century French administrative practice, where deeds, extracts, acknowledgments and procedural documents were written with a quill on stamped paper. The layout, the chancery formulas, the elaborate signatures and the cursive calligraphy testify to an official or semi-official use of the document.

Condition

Used antique document, sold as is. Yellowed paper with age patina, usage folds, foxing, small stains, soiling and visible marginal wear. Some fragility and handling marks consistent with the age of the paper, without detracting from the decorative and documentary character of the whole.
