Description
This official document is a prefectural order issued in Marseille, dated May 27, 1942, as indicated by the visible mention on the upper part of the sheet. It is a period administrative document, written on letterhead from the Préfecture des Bouches-du-Rhône, Direction des Services Agricoles. The whole is presented in the form of a typed sheet, with several administrative stamps and two tax stamps affixed to the top of the document, confirming its authenticity and official validation at the time.
The layout, typical of the 1940s, includes inscriptions in black typed characters, with several handwritten annotations in blue pencil visible on the right and top of the document. The main text is centered, with the word "ARRÊTÉ" in clearly legible capital letters, followed by the date and the partially visible handwritten signature. Several oval and rectangular administrative stamps are affixed, notably a blue "9ème étage" stamp and a stamp dated June 1, 1942. The two tax stamps, in a blue-grey tone, are canceled and glued to the top left of the document.
The content of the text, part of which is legible, names a certain "Mr. BERRET Léopold" and details the purpose of the order, relating to an administrative authorization. The wording and typography, as well as the stamps and seals, are characteristic of official French administration documents from the first half of the 20th century, particularly during the Second World War period.
The paper has a light cream tint, with a slight homogeneous patina visible on the surface, testifying to its age. No tears or missing parts are observable on this side; the sheet appears to be in good structural condition despite some minor signs of wear on the edges, typical of a document handled and archived for several decades. The corners are slightly rounded, with no marked creases on the visible part.
The graphic elements – stamps, seals, printed letterhead, and handwritten annotations – give this document particular interest for enthusiasts of historical archives, old papers, or local administrative history. The presence of original elements (canceled tax stamps, period seals) reinforces the authenticity of the whole.
Condition
Used item, sold as is. The document shows a slight patina of use, slightly softened edges, and partially handwritten inscriptions, but remains generally in good condition for its age. The whole is legible and well preserved on the visible side.
