Description

This antique metal button features a richly decorated face with a central coat of arms surmounted by a crown, typical of 19th-century button ornamentation. The surface is adorned with finely crafted raised motifs, highlighting stylized coats of arms and volutes surrounding the shield. This heraldic decor evokes the aristocratic or military aesthetic of the era, with great attention to detail.

The button is round, with a visible patinated metal finish, giving it an authentic, antique appearance. The reflections of light reveal the depth of the engraving and highlight the quality of the casting or striking work. The crown, positioned at the top of the coat of arms, is well-defined and a central element of the motif, reinforcing the noble character of the object.

The dominant color is a dark silver/gray tone, typical of non-gilded metal buttons from the late 19th century. The slightly satin texture and visible natural wear indicate past use, without altering the legibility of the ornaments. The piece is photographed in an old case with a brown velvet lining, which enhances its precious and historical appearance.

The engraved motifs are clear and well-preserved, with no apparent chips or missing parts on the visible face. This type of button was often used on jackets, coats, or uniforms, to indicate rank or belonging to a family or institution. No legible text or marks appear on the front face.

This button would be perfect for restoring a period garment, complementing a historical outfit, or for decorative use in a vintage haberdashery or heritage sewing context.
