It depicts an indoor scene with a sailor and a maid in period costume, in front of a spinning wheel and a table laden with household items. The overall image is in black and white, with visible handwritten inscriptions on the front. The card bears the mention "Le Fil cassé" (The Broken Thread) and a poem at the top of the card.
