Description

This antique wall cartel features a Louis XVI style body, recognizable by its rocaille motifs and slender silhouette. Made of gilt bronze, according to the keywords, it stands out with a patinated finish and rich vegetal ornamentation. The circular dial, surrounded by a beaded molding, displays black Roman numerals on a white background, each inserted in an enameled cartouche. The center of the dial is finely engraved with floral and geometric motifs, typical of late 19th or early 20th century craftsmanship.

Around the dial, decorative relief elements such as acanthus leaves and volutes emphasize the opulent character of the cartel. The upper part is topped with a stylized vase and sculpted garlands, while the lower part features a symmetrical design with foliage and beaded motifs. The ensemble offers a harmonious and elegant composition, true to the decorative spirit of the Louis XVI era.

The cartel comes with its winding key and pendulum, visible in the photo. The metal key has a classic double-ring shape, while the pendulum has a golden finish, matching the entire cartel. These accessories are placed to the right of the object in the photo.

The surface of the gilt bronze shows an antique patina, with traces of oxidation and wear, mainly on the reliefs and protruding parts. Some areas reveal color variations linked to age, reinforcing the authentic character of this decorative wall clock.

The cartel is equipped with an apparent mechanism on the back of the dial, typical of wall clocks from this period. No markings or signatures are visible on the front, which is common for many French productions from the late 19th century.
