Vintage railway transport counter share certificate 500F 1920s
AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
Bearer share certificate issued by the "Comptoir des Transports Ferroviaires", visible on the front. This vintage financial document features an ornamental blue frame, typical of 1920s administrative stationery. The mention "d'Actions de 500 Francs" (500 Francs Shares) is printed in blue in the center, while the rest of the text is in black, offering an elegant contrast. The certificate also includes a period stamp visible at the top right, enhancing its visual authenticity. The paper shows a slight ivory tone, with a smooth texture and a wavy side cut on the left edge, characteristic of detachable financial documents from the first half of the 20th century.
The upper part mentions a share capital of fourteen million francs, as well as the head office in Paris. The sections to be completed (name, date, signature) are left blank, highlighting the blank and unfilled nature of the document. The framing motifs are fine, regular, and symmetrical, in the style of interwar French administration. The entire document is printed on thick paper, with no visible transparency in the photo.
Condition
This antique share certificate is used and sold as is. It appears in very good overall condition in the photo: no marked creases, no visible tears, sharp corners, and the surface shows no stains or handwritten annotations on the visible side. The wavy side cut is intact. Some slight traces of handling or exposure may remain, consistent with the age of the document.
Did you know? Bearer shares and registered certificates were very common in France in the 1920s-1930s, a time when many individuals invested in the rapidly expanding railway infrastructure. These securities were often printed on secure paper, with decorative frames and stamps to limit counterfeiting.
