Description

This antique key features a traditional "château" shape, characterized by an oval bow with a double bulge and a complex bit, typical of large historical locks. The shank is straight, with a dark brown patinated finish, suggesting long exposure to time. The key shows visible traces of oxidation and uniform wear, signs of ancient use and artisanal craftsmanship.

The key's head, in the shape of an ovoid bow, allowed for a good grip when used in heavy door or chest locks. The bit, angularly and intricately cut, indicates a design intended for sophisticated security mechanisms, often found in 19th-century castles and residences. The visible details on the bit attest to meticulous craftsmanship.

The key's surface is marked by a dark and irregular patina, typical of old wrought iron. Several shades of brown and black are visible, enhancing the object's authenticity. No markings, inscriptions, or decorations are visible on the displayed side. The entire piece is set against a light background, highlighting the material's contrasts and its robustness.

This antique key, with its rustic appearance and functional design, perfectly illustrates 19th-century utilitarian productions. It can serve as a decorative piece, a display item, or an accessory for historical reenactment, thanks to its evocative style and preserved original condition.

Condition

Second-hand item sold as is. Old patina, visible oxidation, regular wear over the entire surface. No breakage or major apparent deformation on the visible side.
