Description

Old decorative silver-plated cup, produced by EIA Lyon, visible on the main face. This piece has a classic round shape, with a slightly curved rim, and a central medallion in relief. The decoration features a stylized sailboat under the mention "LA COMBATTANTE", surrounded by two shields dated 1690 and 1942, as well as an engraved date "1963" in a cartouche at the bottom of the motif.

The center of the cup features detailed relief work, typical of commemorative objects or souvenirs of maritime events. The coats of arms and the Cross of Lorraine reinforce the symbolic character of the piece. The surface of the silver-plated metal shows a marked patina, with shades ranging from silvery grey to brown, suggesting the age and authenticity of the object.

The smooth and polished outer rim contrasts with the ornate central medallion. No other decoration is visible on the external parts of the cup on this side. The inscription "EIA Lyon" attests to French manufacturing, probably in the 1960s, in connection with the central date and the general style.

The cup is designed for decorative use or as a trinket dish, and its shiny finish, despite the patina, highlights the relief of the marine motif. No chips or cracks are visible on the displayed side, only some traces of oxidation and homogeneous wear of the metal, characteristic of an old silver-plated object.
