Description

Period administrative document, an official prefectural decree issued by the Prefecture of Bouches-du-Rhône, visible in the photo. This document is dated April 27, 1933, and concerns a request for renewal of authorization by the Société des Entreprises de Grands Travaux Hydrauliques, located in Marseille. The title "ARRÊTÉ" (DECREE) appears at the top, followed by the mention of the prefect and administrative references. The layout reveals a typewritten typography typical of the 1930s, on official French administration letterhead.

The document includes a green tax stamp affixed to the top left, a blue "Ponts et Chaussées" (Bridges and Roads) stamp with the handwritten date "27 AVR 33," as well as several signatures and handwritten annotations visible in the margin and top right. The main text details the purpose of the request, the conditions for using the Riaux quarry, and the obligations of the company concerned. The entire document is presented on a rectangular cream-colored sheet, with a slight patina consistent with ancient administrative use.

Several characteristic elements of the era are clearly distinguishable: the presence of official stamps, the use of letterhead, and handwritten authentication notes. The document is presented at an angle, resting against a wooden support, which highlights its surface and the integrity of the sheet. No reverse side is visible in the photo.

The upper part contains precise references: "Arrêté d’occupation" (Occupancy Decree), "Domaine public de l’État" (State Public Domain), "Année 1933" (Year 1933), as well as a decree number. The handwritten inscription on the left, difficult to fully decipher, attests to its official validation. The overall condition of the paper shows slight discoloration due to age, with no tears or major folds visible on the shown side.

This type of document constitutes an authentic testament to French administration in the 1930s, both in its style and in the rigor of its wording and the use of stamps, seals, and signatures in force at the time.

Condition

This document is second-hand and sold as is. Slight marks of patina and handling visible on the presented side; good general readability of the text and stamps. No major apparent defects on the visible area.

Did you know? French prefectural decrees, such as the one presented here, were systematically typewritten and validated by tax stamps until the 1940s. The "Ponts et Chaussées" stamp indicates a procedure related to public works or quarrying, common in the Bouches-du-Rhône department during this period.
