Description
Period administrative document, visible in the photo, from the city of Marseille and dated October 16, 1947. It is an official handwritten and typewritten report issued by the State Public Works (T.P.E.) engineer, sub-division head, relating to a request for renewal of temporary occupation of the public maritime domain by the company "Chantier Maritimes Marinas" in Marseille (registered office: 31, rue Sainte, Marseille).

The document features a typical layout from the 1940s, with a "Ponts et Chaussées" (Bridges and Roads) header, several handwritten annotations in the left margin, and part of the text handwritten, attesting to its authenticity and actual administrative use at the time. The upper part clearly mentions the date and location ("à Marseille, 16 octobre 1947" - in Marseille, October 16, 1947) as well as the relevant sub-division ("Subdivisionnaire des Bouches-du-Rhône, Amis du Parc" - Sub-division head of Bouches-du-Rhône, Friends of the Park).

The text includes precise references to the legislation of the time (ministerial decrees of 1878 and 1898, ministerial circulars), as well as a description of the locations concerned and the administrative context of the request. A rough diagram or plan is visible on the left, typical of technical reports from the French administration of the mid-20th century.

The document is printed on archive paper with a slightly yellowed appearance, characteristic of old documents, and shows some signs of wear on the edges, including small handling marks and slightly dog-eared corners. The handwriting is legible and the typewritten characters are very clear, making it an interesting piece for the study of local administrative history or post-war Marseille urban planning.

The whole is presented in a bundle, with other period sheets in the background, some of which are dated 1950, suggesting a context of administrative follow-up or file renewal in the 1940s-50s.

Did you know? The reports of the sub-division engineers of the Ponts et Chaussées were essential in the management of the public maritime domain in France in the 20th century. They documented every request for occupation, renewal or extension, and served as the basis for ministerial decisions. This procedure was particularly important in major ports like Marseille, as it regulated industrial and port activity on the coastline.
