Description

This vintage administrative document, dated April 16, 1940, comes from the Ponts et Chaussées (Bridges and Roads) department, Bouches-du-Rhône, 1st arrondissement, Marseille subdivision. The visible page is an official report from the subdivisional engineer of the T.P.E. (Travaux Publics de l'État - State Public Works), written for the attention of the competent authorities. It concerns a request for temporary occupation of the public maritime domain in the Pharo area, Marseille, more precisely for the location of a shack on the Pharo cove. The applicant mentioned is Mr. Lani Pierre, residing in Marseille.

The document features a typical layout for the 1930s-1940s, with typewritten print on official letterhead paper. Several administrative stamps, handwritten signatures, as well as marginal annotations in pencil and blue ink are visible. The "Direction Départementale des Travaux Publics" (Departmental Directorate of Public Works) stamp and the mention "Pour le Directeur, L'Inspecteur Principal" (For the Director, The Principal Inspector) are clearly visible on the left.

The upper part of the document displays various administrative organizational elements: register order number (9625), case references (File No. 4/3, Item 4/3, 1st arrondissement 1076), and several handwritten mentions (including a red numbering at the top left). The upper left area lists the responsible managers and engineers.

The typography, text structure, and technical vocabulary ("occupation temporaire du domaine public maritime" - temporary occupation of the public maritime domain, "avis favorable de l'Administrateur de la Ville de Marseille" - favorable opinion of the Administrator of the City of Marseille) are characteristic of official reports from the 1930s-1940s. The entire document is printed on a sheet showing signs of use and handling, including a folded upper left corner and a slight patina of age.

The main text is in French and remains legible over the entire visible face. Some lines are partially faded at the edges, consistent with the document's age. No back or interior pages are visible in the provided photo.
